Every case is discussed with the cardiologists first. Angiogram, echo and CT are read together, so a patient who does not need surgery is told that in the clinic rather than on the table.
Recovery is where cardiac surgery is won or lost. Patients come out of theatre into an ICU staffed by nurses who do nothing else, and physiotherapy starts on the first morning after.
